How to recover from a stroke?

A course of lectures was held in the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1 of Almaty, where patients were treated in real time mode.

From 20 to 24 January in Almaty, on the basis of the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1, a series of lectures and master classes from famous professors from South Korea on rehabilitation after a stroke, arthroplasty of joints and treatment of cerebral palsy was held. Physicians from all regions of Kazakhstan came to learn from the experience of foreign colleagues.

How to recover from a stroke, how to cure cerebral palsy without harming a person - these questions have long been of interest to many Kazakhstanis, says a doctor of the highest category, head of the neurorehabilitation division of the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1 Amina Seydanova.

“Services for orthopedic and children's rehabilitation, recovery from a stroke are now very popular in Kazakhstan, the demand for rehabilitation is great. Therefore, we decided to increase the competence and knowledge of our physicians not only from Almaty and Nur-Sultan, but also from other cities. On a free basis, 193 Kazakhstani specialists studied with professors for five days in a row. Briefly about our lecturers: in South Korea there is an association of physiotherapists, this is a very famous organization with powerful experts, from where our guests came, the president of this association took part in the master classes. Patients from the division were brought to them in real time mode, and they showed the methods of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation using a specific example, ”Amina Seydanova shared.

Professor Park Kang-Hee from the Division of Physical Therapy has revealed a strategy for rehabilitation after a stroke, so that a person can quickly move from a sitting position to a standing position. Further, all patients were interested in their physical activity and recovery of walking after a stroke, professors from South Korea Lee Gen-Hee, Park Kang-hee and Park Hyun Sik gave comprehensive answers to all questions.

“For seven years since 2013, the International Medical Foundation Severance-KZ has been holding master classes, seminars, lectures in Kazakhstan, we bring foreign scientists and famous Physicians to share their rich experience with our specialists. You can travel to Europe and Israel, undergo physiotherapy on expensive devices, but I am convinced that no machine can replace a person, a doctor. The secret and speed of the effectiveness of the methods of the South Koreans is that they work with their hands, that is, they physically affect the body and muscles of the patient, only a person can feel the pain of another person and by pressing, with therapy, remove it. And the third, which concludes, is a change in the patient's thinking, the doctor will teach you to change your attitude towards the disease and start living qualitatively. Today the professors brought all the best to us, to Kazakhstan, ”says Larisa An, President of the Severance-KZ Foundation.

If we move from the private to the general, there are now many patients in Kazakhstan who do not undergo proper rehabilitation, thus the level of disability is growing, experts say. Practice shows that a systematic, integrated approach helps a person who has experienced a stroke to live a full, high-quality life, without equating the diagnosis with a sentence.

The Division of Neurorehabilitation on the basis of Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1 is the only one in the city of Almaty and the Almaty region with such a technical and scientific base, it was founded in 2006 with a therapeutic and prophylactic purpose. Each division of the clinic has comfortable wards with a separate bathroom and shower, the Physicians say.

The geographical location of the clinic remains attractive and advantageous. It was built on the territory with a mineral spring of sodium chloride water containing chlorine, nitrogen, radon and using the therapeutic mud of the lake "Tuzkol" in the Almaty region.

Here, qualified specialized medical care is provided, including rehabilitation within the framework of the compulsory health insurance and in excess of its volume in the form of paid services.

“The uniqueness of the clinic lies not only in the use of an underground source of mineral water and curative mud, but also in the only divisions in the city, and some in Kazakhstan such as allergology, pulmonology, neurorehabilitation and the division of multidisciplinary therapy for veterans of the Great Patriotic War. We treat both the liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the victims of the Semipalatinsk test site, ”concluded the head of the neurorehabilitation division of the City Clinical Hospital No. 1 Amina Seydanova.

The organizers of the master class are the International Medical Foundation Severance-KZ, the Association of Physiotherapists of South Korea and Smart Health Univercity City LLP.
